Forest City NC
Forest City is a town in Rutherford County, North Carolina which is formerly known as the “Burnt Chimney.” As of 2017, Forest City is populated by 7,210 people, making it the largest municipality in Rutherford County. Forest City is known for its many historical sites such as The Alexander Manufacturing Company Mill, Village Historic District, Forest City Baptist Church, James Dexture Ledbetter House, and Main Street Historic District. Governed by its mayor and board of commissioners, Forest City’s small-town vibe attracts locals and out-of-towners alike for its mild summers and mild winters.
Forest City also has a plethora of museums. The Rutherford County Farm Museum
and the Bennett Classical Auto Museum
are two of its main attractions.
Every Christmas season, the downtown area of Forest City sparkles with over 500,000 lights and is graced with the magic of horse-drawn carriages. Also home to the Forest City Owls baseball club, which is part of the Coastal Plain League, a collegiate summer league. The Owls’ home field is McNair Field
in Forest City, NC. They won a championship in 2009 with a record of 51-9 and then again in 2010, which was ranked number 1 in the US for summer collegiate teams across America.
